“Power To The People”
June 20, 2011
Welcome to the RAW Recap! I am your host, Marcus Shadow! This week is a Special 3-Hour RAW entitled “Power To The People!” Now… let’s get this show on the road! Do keep in mind that I have not watched Capitol Punishment nor have I read results.
RAW Kick-Off
RAW kicks off with CM Punk walking out alone. Cole mentions that Punk defeated Rey Mysterio last night at Capitol Punishment. Not that surprising considering he technically won his match last week on RAW. Punk sits in the middle of the ring which seems to be the MO of his gimmick these days. He opens by saying he wouldn’t trust “The People” with running the program. He insults Baltimore and goes on to tell “The People” that they can’t influence his career and that he’s the greatest wrestler today. I don’t know about that. He’s good… but I don’t think he’s THAT good. Anyhow, he goes on to say that he soundly defeated Rey last night just like he soundly defeated Cena last week. So I can only assume he cheated to beat Rey last night. He then demands that the Anonymous GM grant him a WWE Title Match at the next PPV. The GM chimes in and Cole gets up to his shtick. Punk interrupts Cole to tell him to get on with it. Add cool points to Punk from me for that. The GM tells Punk that he’ll take his demands into consideration and to get out of the ring. Punk refuses to leave and begins to make “snow angels” in the ring. The GM chimes back in saying he was going to make Punk the #1 Contender, but now that he’s been disrespected, Punk has to earn it against Alberto Del Rio tonight, the winner becoming #1 Contender. Punk makes fun of Del Rio’s win against Big Show last night and the GM chimes back in making it a Triple Threat Match, adding Rey Mysterio to the mix. Punk gets out of the ring as the RAW music hits and starts yelling at Cole before limping off.
Rating – 4/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
As always, Punk is gold on the mic. He plays his part well and makes you believe he is who he is portraying. He’s also consistent with his gimmick, which adds to the believability. As stated above, Punk gets cool points from me for interrupting Cole. The only complaint I have is that the outcome was too predictable. I wish it had remained Punk vs Del Rio. I would have loved to see that match.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW cuts to commercial giving “The People” a choice: Pick Brie Bella’s opponent for the night between Eve, Kelly Kelly, and Beth Phoenix.
RAW comes back from commercial with the Bella Twins coming out. And the winner is... Kelly Kelly. I saw that one coming. Kelly Kelly comes out for the match.
Match #1 – Brie Bella w/ Nikki Bella vs Kelly Kelly for the Diva’s Championship
Brie wins the lock-up and forces Kelly Kelly into the corner which the ref breaks up. Brie slides out of the ring and runs as Kelly gives chase. Nikki distracts Kelly which allows Brie to drop kick her off the apron. Brie takes control, tossing Kelly back into the ring and ‘going to work.’ Brie with some strikes and an early roll-up for two. She stays on the offensive, keeping Kelly grounded with some neck submissions. Kelly eventually breaks out with some butt thumps. She takes control, beating on Brie, hitting a Lou Thesz Press, a Bulldog, and a pin for two. Brie kicks out and drops Kelly for another two count. Brie in control, sending Kelly into the corner. Kelly attempts a counter into a Hurricanrana Pin, but Brie rolls through for two, then Kelly rolls through that to pick up the win.
Winner & New Diva’s Champion: Kelly Kelly
Rating – 3/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
For a Diva’s Match, not half bad. They showed some talent out there. However, I felt it was too short and kind of a throwaway match. Give me Divas that can fight and a match at least twice as long and I might care enough to rate the match higher.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW goes to commercial giving the people a chance to pick the opponent for Evan Bourne: Jack Swagger, Mason Ryan, or Sin Cara.
RAW comes back from commercial with Evan Bourne coming out. And the winner is... Mason Ryan? Really? *facepalms*
Match #2 – Evan Bourne vs Mason Ryan
Bourne starts off dancing around Ryan, allowing to duck an attempted clothesline by Ryan. Ryan backs him into a corner, but Bourne ducks another clothesline, breaking out. Bourne attempts to slide between Ryan’s legs, but Ryan catches him and capitalizes on it, using his strength to keep Bourne grounded. Ryan throws Bourne around the ring until the crowd starts chanting, “BA-TIS-TA! BA-TIS-TA!” Then Bourne dodges and goes to work on Ryan’s vertical base. Ryan eventually stops him, picking him up into a backbreaker hold, dropping Bourne on his knee a couple times before tossing him with a Fallaway Slam. HE picks Bourne up to continue his assault, but Bourne dodges, beginning a flurry of strikes. Bourne backs him into a corner with the strikes, then pulls him away to set up for a grapple, but Ryan counters with a Military Press. Ryan keeps Bourne grounded and picks him up, putting him on top of a turnbuckle for a power move. Bourne counters, kicking him off the turnbuckle, causing him to land on his back. Bourne stands up and prepares for Air Bourne, but Ryan gets to his feet. Bourne jumps off, landing a Mule Kick to Ryan’s back, slamming him into the turnbuckle. Bourne turns around and attempts a roll-up (and a sloppy one at that, way to go height difference) for a two count. Bourne climbs up another turnbuckle for a another high flying move, but Ryan catches Bourne out of mid-air and hits a Black Hole Slam for the win.
Winner: Mason Ryan
Rating – 3/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
This match was okay. Because of the size difference, Evan Bourne couldn’t do anything flashy. And because Mason Ryan is just a big, boring guy who thinks he’s Batista, he wasn’t very fun to watch.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW goes to commercial, leaving “The People” with a choice of match for Kane and Mark Henry: Body Slam Match, Arm Wrestling Match, or Over The Top Rope Match.
Henry In-Ring Promo
RAW comes back from commercial with a recap of Henry and Show on SmackDown. Henry comes out, followed by a recap of Capitol Punishment where Henry slammed Show through the Announcer’s Table. Henry gets on the mic and talks about the Big Show and Capitol Punishment. Here’s a little snippet from Henry’s promo: “Big Show, the fundamental difference between you and I is that all your fans know that when you walk to the Earth, the ground shakes. But when I walk the Earth, they, and all these people saying ‘WHAT?!’, they shake. Just like my song says, when you mess with The World’s Strongest Man, somebody’s gonna get their ass kicked!” I have to admit, Henry’s live promo was pretty good. RAW cuts to commercial.
Rating – 4/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
I have to say, that’s probably the best promo I’ve seen Henry cut. He was natural and fluid on the mic and he was coherent. All in all, not bad Henry. Not bad.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW comes back from commercial with the match decision and it is… An Arm Wrestling Match?! *bangs head on table*
Match #3: Kane vs Mark Henry in an Arm Wrestling Match
I’ve just gotta say this now. Two men the size of Kane and Mark Henry with a small table between them in the middle of a wrestling ring…. what is WWE thinking?! Kane is ready to go, but Henry keeps breaking the hold, refusing to begin the match. And the Baltimore crowd with a “This Is Stupid!” chant! Kane and Henry finally begin the match. It looks pretty even, neither man giving an inch. Henry seems to be slowly gaining ground, but Kane manages to stop him and begins to push back. Henry gets frustrated and hits Kane across the back of the head with a hard left, knocking him to the mat. The bell rings as Kane gets back to his feet and begins to lay into Henry. Henry overpowers Kane and drops him before picking up the Arm Wrestling Table and knocking Kane across the head with it, sending him out of the ring. Henry drops the table and follows, knocking Kane around the outside of the ring. Eventually, Henry picks up Kane and slams his spine into one of the ring corners. He then pulls apart the Announcer’s Table, looking like he’s preparing to Slam Kane through it like he did to Big Show last night. He pulls Kane over to the table, knocking him around a bit before picking him up and hitting The World’s Strongest Slam on Kane through the Announcer’s Table, demolishing it and Kane completely. Crowd with a “YOU SUCK!” chant as Henry surveys the carnage. Henry, off mic, begins to rant to the crowd. Hey R-Truth, are you paying attention? THAT is how you portray the “Angry Black Man” Gimmick!
Winner: Kane by DQ… I guess?
Rating – 3/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
Honestly, this sucked. BAD. Who the EFF voted for an Arm Wrestling Match?! The only reason I gave this a 3/5 is because of Mark Henry “The Angry Black Man.” It’s sad when Mark Henry is the best thing about a match.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heel Convention
It is at this point that I’m joined by my good friend, Prinny. RAW comes back from commercial to the creepiest R-Truth Face I’ve ever seen. After a Captiol Punishiment recap where a kid threw water in Truth’s face, Truth comes out to… no music, once again. Dammit WWE, get this man some music! He gets in the ring and goes into his ‘Angry Black Man’ routine. He talks about getting water splashed on by the boy and goes on a tangent about “Little Jimmys.” As bad as Truth is, this is honestly funny. Then… Christian’s Music Hits.
Prinny: DAAAAAAAAMN…
Marcus: Oh Shit…
Christian has a mic, gets in the ring, and proceeds to complain and be a Heel about losing to Orton last night. Christian complains about being counted to three when his leg was under the bottom rope and demands one more shot. Truth says that he “got got by Little Jimmy.” He talks to Christian about Little Jimmys then Miz’s music hits.
Prinny: This hurts… when Miz’s music hits and the crowd cheers, I die a little inside.
Miz begins to chide Christian and Truth about being crybabies.
Prinny: My God, this is like a Super Villain Convention out here.
Miz complains about how the ref personally got involved in his match last night against Alex Riley. Riley actually won? Wow! They get into a “REALLY!” yelling match where Christian interjects “RILEY!” and Truth interjects “JIMMY!” It’s actually pretty funny. Then T-Lo’s music comes out telling them to shut up. Then proceeds to announce a Six-Man Tag Team Match with the three of them teaming up against Alex Riley, Randy Orton, and John Cena. And the people get to decide the match type. I can only assume this is tonight’s Main Event.
Rating – 4/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
This was actually entertaining, despite the fact that we had “The Racist Black Guy” and Heel Christian (I really don’t want him as a Heel). That Main Event Match could be a good one.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW goes to commercial with “The People” given a choice of match for Kofi vs Dolph for the US Title: 2 out of 3 Falls, Vicki Banned From Ringside, or Submission. Dolph has the US Title on his shoulder so I can only assume he won last night.
Prinny: Oh what the--?! Dolph get that shit off your shoulder!
RAW comes back to commercial showing a recap of Capitol Punishment where Dolph beat Kofi for the US Title via Sleeper Hold thanks to Vicki. Then… ugh… Vicki comes out and introduces Dolph. I have to admit, Vicki’s looking pretty good tonight despite her ugly face. Once they hit the ring, Kofi comes out. And the winning match type is… 2 out of 3 Falls?! WHAT?! *cocks shotgun*
Match #4: Kofi Kingston vs Dolph Ziggler in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match for the US Title
Kofi goes right after Dolph, kicking to the ground and stomping a mudhole in him, right out of the ring. Where he continues to beat the snot out of him. Kofi eventually throws Dolph back into the ring, but Dolph manages to get a couple shots in before Kofi just goes nuts, once again, beating him out of the ring. He goes out, beats on him so more, and throws him back into the ring, going for a pin and a two count. Kofi picks him up and hits a Fisherman Suplex, going for another pin and two count. Dolph finally goes on the offensive, but it’s short lived as Kofi counters into a Backslide pin for two. Kofi rushes Dolph with a Spinebuster Takedown and continues to beat on him. Until Kofi goes for another rush and Dolph rolls out of the way, causing Kofi to crash and burn outside the ring. RAW goes to commercial.
Prinny: I still subscribe to my theory for 2 out of 3 Falls. Get a Chair and beat the crap out of your opponent, getting the intentional DQ for the first fall. Then go for Submissions after that to take advantage of whatever body part you targeted with the chair. There’s not much your opponent will be able to do after taking several chair shots.
Marcus: Good strategy.
RAW comes back from commercial with Dolph having Kofi in a Rear Naked Choke. They show what happened during commercial, Dolph hitting the Zig-Zag on Kofi for the first pin. That’s right… DURING COMMERCIAL! EFF YOU WWE! Kofi breaks out only to have Dolph drop him with an arm lock. Dolph holds the lock and tries to extend, almost wanting to go for a Crossface.
Prinny: Oh come on! Just Crossface him already!
Dolph releases the hold and allows Kofi to stand up before dropping him with a Fame-Asser. Pin for two. Kofi gets up and counters a punch into the S.O.S. for the pin. Each now has one fall a piece. Kofi picks up Dolph and tries for something which Dolph counters into a Neckbreaker and a two count. Dolph then jumps on Kofi’s back and holds him to the ground in a Sleeper Hold. Kofi fights to his feet and elbows Dolph in the gut multiple times before clocking him in the face. Dolph goes for a drop kick, but Kofi catches his legs, pulls him over to a corner, and Monkey Flips him into the turnbuckle.
Prinny: NICE SELL!
Kofi waits for Dolph to stagger out of the corner and goes into his signature Double Knife Edge Chops. Kofi drops Dolph and goes for the pin. Kick out at two and a half!
Prinny: Nice Sell for the Two and a Half.
Kofi continues his offense, ending up on the top rope and hitting a Body Splash on Dolph’s Back. That… look like it hurt. Dolph goes outside the ring to get the US Title. Kofi follows, ducking the attack and hitting the Trouble In Paradise. He pulls Dolph back into the ring and goes for the pin and two. Dolph rolls out of the ring and tries to escape into the crowd as Kofi follows. Dolph grabs the ring announcer’s mic and hits Kofi with it, disqualifying himself and earning Kofi the win. But the title does not change hands. Dolph goes out and gets Kofi, pulling him into the ring for more punishment, but Kofi hits him with a sloppy version of the Trouble In Paradise.
Winner: Kofi Kingston via DQ, Dolph Ziggler retains the US Title
Rating – 2/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
Despite the great selling by Dolph Ziggler and the skill put forth by both of these competitors, I call BULLSHIT on this match. First they don’t even bother to show the first fall and then they allow it to end with a DQ?! Really? REALLY?! A 2 out of 3 Falls TITLE MATCH and you don’t bother to show the first fall AND you allow it to end on a DQ?! AND you have great superstars in the ring! Screw You WWE! Screw. You. Oh and I was pulling for Vicki Being Banned. But 2 out of 3 Falls could have been great. Instead they made it SUCK. Horrible WWE. Just Horrible.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW goes to commercial, leaving a choice of match for the #1 Contender’s Match: No DQ, Falls Count Anywhere, or Submission.
RAW comes back to the announcement of Shawn Michaels being at RAW next week! WOOT! Then Alberto Del Rio comes out with a mic. In the ring, he goes on to say that running over Show’s leg was an accident, but that when he beats Rey and Punk it won’t be an accident… it will be destiny. Then RAW goes to commercial.
Prinny: Del Rio wants to be Undertaker.
Marcus: What do you mean?
Prinny: He wants to hold the record for how long it takes him to get his ass to the ring once his music hits.
Marcus: *laughs* So true.
RAW comes back from commercial with Del Rio in the ring and his music still playing. Punk’s Music hits and he comes out. Punk and Del Rio stare at each other as Rey’s Music hits and he comes out. And the Match Stipulation is… Falls Count Anywhere! FINALLY! A Good Outcome!
Match #5: Alberto Del Rio vs CM Punk vs Rey Mysterio in a Falls Count Anywhere Match for the #1 Contendership to the WWE Title
Bell rings and Punk hits Del Rio before Rey rolls up Punk for two. He then rolls up Del Rio for two. Then Del Rio goes to work on Rey before Rey counters. Then Punk hits Rey who hits him aside as Del Rio attempts to capitalize. Rey knocks him out of the ring as Punk goes to work on Rey, going for a pin and two. Rey gets up and trips into a 619 position. Rey goes for the 619, but Del Rio, back in the ring, clotheslines him out of it. Punk pulls out of the rope and tosses Del Rio out of the ring. Del Rio gets on the apron as Punk jumps over the top rope and hits a Sunset Flip Powerbomb on Del Rio outside the ring, pinning for two. Rey, now on the ring apron, runs at Punk and Seated Senton on Punk, sitting on him for two as RAW cuts to commercial.
RAW comes back from commercial with Del Rio and Rey in the ring. Rey goes to work with Hurricanranas on Del Rio before Punk gets in the ring. Rey hits Punk and Del Rio Hurricanranas Rey. He then turns to Punk and hits a Falling Arm Breaker on him. He then proceeds to keep beating on Punk before Rey gets back in the ring. He tries to stop Rey, but Rey gets on top of the turnbuckle and jumps on Del Rio before turning to Punk and tripping him into the 619 position again. Then Del Rio tries to come in, but Rey trips him too. Rey goes for the 619, but Del Rio moves out of the way and Punk catches Rey, pulling him in to the ring and setting up for the GTS. Del Rio kicks Punk in the back, forcing him to release the hold. He knocks Punk down and goes for the Cross Arm Breaker on Rey, but Punk kicks him in the back of the head. Del Rio gets both men down eventually and tries to pin them both, to no avail. He then hits Rey with a hard German Suplex for two. He tosses Rey into one corner and Punk into another before running at Rey. Rey moves out of the way as Del Rio ‘Spears’ the corner. Punk goes after Rey, but to no avail as he gets Punk on the mat and climbs the turnbuckle. He hits a rolling splash and continues running at the corner, jumping between the ropes, spearing Del Rio outside. He then goes back up top and hits Punk with an aerial move. He then goes for a Springboard Plancha which Punk moves out of the way for. Rey gets Punk on top of the turnbuckle and goes for a top rope move, but Del Rio gets back in the ring and pulls Rey off the turnbuckle into a Cross Arm Breaker. Punk recovers and hits Del Rio across the throat with a Leg Drop. Dell Rio up first, throws Punk into a corner and runs at Punk, hitting him with a rolling kick, kicking him out of the ring. Rey catches Del Rio in the 619 Set Up, hits the 619, then the Human Torpedo Drop. He goes the pin, but Punk slides back in, pulls Rey off Del Rio, slides him into a ring post, then pins Del Rio himself for the win!
Winner and #1 Contender for the WWE Title: CM Punk
Rating – 5/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
GREAT MATCH! Fast-paced and high action. That’s what I like to see. There’s not much I can say about this match. All three superstars were awesome! This is what I’ve been waiting to see from Del Rio!
Post-Match
Punk gets a mic and says that after he beats Cena for the title, his contract will be up so he’s taking the title with him. Ummm… no. No you’re not Punk.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW goes to commercial, leaving “The People” with a match choice for Rhodes vs Bryan: Paper Bag Match, No Count Outs, or Collegiate Rules.
RAW comes back with a recap of the Rhodes vs Bryan Feud. Live, Bryan is already in the ring.
Marcus: Well, we know who’s NOT winning the match.
Prinny: Heh, yeah.
Rhodes comes out to his music and with… his… baggers? WTF?! The Baggers hand out paper bags with holes cut out like a mask. *facepalm*
So… the match type is… No Count Out!
Match #6: Cody Rhodes vs Daniel Bryan in a No Count Out Match
Rhodes gets the early hit, but Bryan takes control, sending Rhodes outside the ring. Bryan with a Plancha to the outside and continues his onslaught, sending Rhodes up the ramp. He picks Rhodes up to his knees on the stage and hits him with two consecutive kicks to the chest before Rhodes ducks the third. He brings Rhods back to the ring and slides him in before climbing to the top rope and hitting a flying kick, going for a pin and two. Rhodes tosses him to a turnbuckle and runs past him, clocking him across the back of the head. Rhodes with offense, finally dropping Bryan to the mat and pins for two. Rhodes with offense, but Bryan counters with an attempted Arm Breaker. Rhodes tries for a counter, but Bryan counters into a roll-up for three.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
Rating – 3/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
I only rated it that high for the surprise factor of Bryan actually winning the match. Aside from that, the match kinda sucked. It was short and, essentially, a squash match.
Post-Match
Rhodes goes for a clothesline out of anger, but Bryan counters into the LaBell Lock. Ted DiBiase comes running out from the back, breaking up the lock. Rhodes picks up Bryan and delivers an Alabama Slam. Then the Cross Rhodes. Then one of the fans hands DiBiase one of those paper bags which he puts over Bryan’s head as Rhodes celebrates. RAW cuts to commercial.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW comes back to announce a Dance Contest between Vicki Guerrero and one of the Commentators, “The People” pick the commentator: Book, King, or Cole. Then back to commercial.
Dance Contest
RAW comes back from commercial with a recap of the night’s events. Vickie and Matt Striker (?!) in the ring. Striker is hosting the Dance Contest. Vicki gets on the mic (kill me now) and talks about Dolph, then says she has 15 years of Dance Training and that she’s an exper in dance. Then she steals Sable’s Line: “For All The Men That Came To See Me And All The Women Who Want To Be Me!”
Marcus: Tell Me… She Did NOT Just Say That!
Then she does a stupid little, no talent, striptease dance where she kisses Matt Striker. And now her opponent… Michael Cole! Cole to the ring, sans Sport Jacket. Then Cole gets on the mic. He says, “Sit back and enjoy perfection.” Then Cole dances. The only thing I can do is facepalm. Then he attempts a Spin-a-roonie which King calls the Cole-a-roonie and Cole says, “Now can you dig THAT, BOOOKAAAA!!” Cole is announced as the winner as Vickie bitch-slaps him to the mat, screaming, “I’M THE WINNER!” Then Vickie attempts a Moon Walk (I think) up the ramp as her slut music hits.
Rating – 2/5
Marcus’ Opinions:
I gave it that rating just for the hilarity of it all. But in all honesty, pointless and unnecessary. Looks like they needed filler to get to the Main Event.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAW cuts to commercial with People’s Choice of matches for the Main Event: One Fall To A Finish, 20 Minute Limit, or Elimination Match.
RAW comes back to Truth coming out to nothing. Crowd starts chanting “LIT-TLE JIM-MY!” Then Christian comes out. Then Miz comes out. Then Alex Riley comes out. I still love his music. Riley stops at the bottom of the ramp and waits as Orton comes out to mad pops. Orton walks right up to the ring and looks up at Christian before climbing into the ring. The Three Stooges back up as Riley follows Orton into the ring. Then Cena comes out. Funny how Orton got a bigger pop then Cena. The Three Stooges clear the ring as Cena slides in to join his team mates. And the match type is… Elimination Match! With a solid 79% of the votes! YES!
Prinny: Daaaaaaaaaaamn…
RAW to commercial.

Post-Match
Cena grabs both title belts and hands Randy Orton his World Title as they both celebrate. Cena raises Orton’s arm in victory as RAW goes off the air.
Rating – 4/5
Marcus’ Opinion:
The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 out of 5 is because Alex Riley got eliminated too early, in my opinion. I wanted to see Riley do more before he got eliminated. And if you’re not going to do that, at least let him come back out after the match to celebrate with his team. Come on! Aside from that, a really good match overall. Sure there were the Standard Super Cena and Super Orton Combos, though they both failed. But it wasn’t too predictable. WWE should have more matches like that.
Overall Rating for RAW – 8/10
Marcus’ Overall Opinion of RAW:
This RAW was, overall, very well done. Again, the Diva Match wasn’t the Pee Break Match. Kane vs Mark Henry in the Arm Wrestling Match was the Pee Break Match. If you can even call it a match. Aside from that, the show was pretty solid from start to finish. The promos were all relevant, mostly well done, and were given enough time to make them relevant. They also built on existing feuds and rivalries. Unlike the last RAW that I reviewed, they didn’t try to build something up at the 11th Hour and give it only two minutes to build up. Most of the matches were also solid, lasting for decent amounts of time and with the superstars actually showing skill. Even the Divas showed SOME skill. And, unlike last week’s three-hour RAW, it didn’t seem like WWE was putting stuff in for filler. To me, it seemed like every match and every promo had a purpose. And that’s what I like to see.
However, the Kane/Henry thing was a huge waste of time and the stupid decisions, supposedly, made by the WWE Universe (Arm Wrestling Match? Really?!) dragged the show down for me. There was also one bit I would consider filler and that is the Dance Contest between Vicki and Cole. To me, it seemed like WWE needed some quick filler to get the show into the Main Event timeslot. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty funny, but not really relevant to anything.
I would also like to take this time to talk about a couple Superstars that surprised me, showed some skill, and proved their talent to me. The first is Dolph Ziggler. I always liked him as an in-ring competitor. Today I got to see some actual skill from him, despite the fact that his match sucked donkey balls. I still maintain that he needs to ditch Vicki and WWE needs to let him just wrestle. He’s GOOD and I want to see him prove it to the world. The other Superstar on my radar is Alberto Del Rio. Again, given his pedigree, I knew he had talent. But WWE never let him really do anything in-ring. But the match today, the number one contender’s match, he was great! He held his own against CM Punk and Rey Mysterio; not an easy thing to do. Actually, I wanted him to win the match, to be honest. But, CM Punk winning is cool too. Tonight was a great showcase for Alberto Del Rio and I expect to see a lot more in the future.
On a final note, I would like to say that I somewhat agree with what CM Punk said at the top of the show: The fans should NOT be given control of RAW. Or, at least, fans younger than 16. Seriously. Anyone who seriously thought an Arm Wrestling Match between two of the largest WWE Superstars on the Roster was a good idea shouldn’t be calling the shots. That’s my opinion and if you’re not down with that, I’ve got TWO WORDS FOR YA!
I’m Marcus Shadow and that’s it for this week’s RAW Recap! Tune in next week when my partner, James Phoenix, recaps RAW with Special Guest Shawn Michaels, Live from Sin City! Thanks and Good Night!
