ECW 4th November 2008
Orlando, Florida
The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the stage. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcomed us to the show. Striker said it was an "Election Day special ECW."
1. Matt Hardy defeated Bam Neely in a non-title match in 5:16. Grisham pointed out that Chavo Guerrero has not been seen since his casket match with The Undertaker on Smackdown. Bam showed some life after a putting a well placed kick into the lower back of Hardy. He continued to work on the lumbar region. Hardy went for a high crossbody but Bam caught him and hit a "swinging Bossman slam" according to Striker. Hardy regained the advantage in the match and hit about eight moves in a row. Hardy hit a jumping tornado DDT from the middle rope for the two count. Neely quickly recovered and hit a superplex for a nearfall. Neely looked like he was trying another superplex, but Hardy hit a Twist of Fate out of nowhere for the win.
Finlay and Hornswoggle's music hit and they made their way out to confront Hardy.

Coming back from the break, Finlay told Hardy that while he has taken on all comers since becoming the ECW Champion, he has never faced Finlay one-on-one. Finlay challenged Hardy and Hardy said he knew this day was coming. Mark Henry's music hit and he came out with Tony Atlas.
Henry said Finlay would not take his title shot. Finlay told Henry no one wanted to see him get another title shot because if they did, Henry would have received more than four votes at Cyber Sunday. Finlay said Henry and Atlas voted for Henry. Hardy said he did too.
Teddy Long came out to the stage and informed us Matt Hardy would defend the ECW Title next week against the winner of tonight's main event of Finlay vs. Mark Henry. Henry looked very pleased.
A video aired for the return of The Boogeyman.

2. Ricky Ortiz defeated Jon Davis in 1:18. Striker pointed out that Davis was trained by Dory Funk Jr. Ortiz won the match with "The big O" splash.
A commercial aired for "WWE Authentic Wear."
Jack Swagger came out to the ring to deliver a promo. Swagger reminded us of the night Tommy Dreamer became the respected man he is today (or was in the original ECW); when The Sandman repeatedly beat him with a Singapore Cane and Tommy kept asking for more.
Swagger then showed us the old ECW Title and said Tommy was old too. He said Tommy was ECW Champion for less time than tonight's show has been on the air. Swagger then held up a picture of Beulah McGillicutty.
Swagger told us that Beulah was "Tommy's in ring girlfriend and out of ring wife." They have two beautiful twin daughters, but since Tommy was a loser, the kids would grow up to be losers too. He said they could look up to him. Dreamer could not sit back any longer and ran down to spoil the party. He chased Swagger off with the Singapore Cane.
Striker plugged tonight's main event.

Footage aired of last night's very good cage match with Chris Jericho regaining the World Heavyweight Championship from Batista. A Survivor Series graphic of Jericho vs. Cena was shown. The match graphics are pretty cool; they have the picture and silhouettes in the background.
3. Finlay (with Hornswoggle) defeated Mark Henry (with Tony Atlas) in 14:54 to become the number one contender for the ECW Championship. The first few minutes of the match were slow and plodding. Finlay tried a clubbing closeline but Henry blocked it like you would a punch in a boxing match. He then grounded Finlay with a huge closeline of his own.

Henry worked extensively on the left shoulder and arm of Finlay. Finlay turned the tides and worked on the leg of Henry. Henry quickly regained the advantage and threw Finlay to the floor. Finlay knocked out Tony Atlas. Finlay scored a nearfall after Hornswoggle distracted Henry by jumping at him from the top rope. The referee was busy with Tony Atlas.
Henry chased Hornswoggle around the ring and was met by Finlay. He disposed of him. Henry threw both Finlay and Hornswoggle into the ring. He tried a splash but both men moved out of the way. The referee tried to get Hornswoggle out of the ring and Finlay hit Henry with the shillegleh for the win.
