Friday Night – December 19th, 2008 – Baltimore, MD
Show Opening:
[The show opens with footage of Jeff Hardy winning the WWE Title at Armageddon]
[The title appears on the screen. It lowers to reveal Jeff holding it. He says “Here I Come!” as the opening sequence rolls.]
Justin Roberts introduces Jeff Hardy as the new WWE Champion and he comes to the ring to a massive pop. Confetti flies as Jeff high fives random audience members on his way down the ramp. Lots of pyro goes off around the ring and on the stage as Jeff poses on the turnbuckle with the title. He poses on all four turnbuckles as more confetti flies and the fans go nuts. He is finally handed a microphone. He starts by saying wow. He says that he has heard the fans screaming for like a decade now, and he wants to apologize for it taking so long, but yes it finally happened! He says the thought of Jeff Hardy being WWE Champion kind of put reality in danger. But the reality is now that the WWE is about to change. He says the title doesn’t just represent him, but all the rejects and cast outs around the world. He says that he is known for being a little crazy and he says he is going to ask everyone to do something a little crazy. He asks for everyone to stand up and scream, even those at home.
Edge walks out with no music and screams sarcastically about how heartwarming it is. He says that nothing has changed as the fans start a you suck chant. He says that nothing has changed because Hardy got lucky, lucky! He says that one good day out of 365 does not make a champion. He says it takes a lifetime of dedication and that representing this company isn’t about fate or destiny, it’s about sacrifice. He says that fate is what spoiled kids use when things do their way, and destiny is just a cop-out. He says that that is something Jeff knows all about. He says he was the champion for one reason and one reason only, and that was due to hard work, Period!!
Jeff says he has a word for Edge. He begins chanting Liar and the fans join in as Edge tells them to shut up. He says that’s real clever, but he didn’t touch him and had nothing to do with what happened at Survivor Series. He says he doesn’t need to because he is better then Jeff. He says to look at the past decade, and he has always outperformed Jeff, always. He says that Jeff wanted to get everyone’s attention, well he got it. He says that tonight that General Manager Vickie Guerrero has made two matches tonight. He adds that this was independent of his relationship with her. The first is his big brother Matt Hardy again yours truly, Edge. He says that Jeff wanted change; well he has the chance to make change. It will be the WWE Champion Jeff Hardy against the undefeated Vladimir Kozlov. He adds that no matter what, Jeff will always be the screw up. Jeff asks if he is done, and then hits him with a Twist of Fate.
